my lovely new project bags! I needed small bags to schlep around my knitting projects and commissioned my friend Nina of Mama Roux to make me some. I LOVE THEM!!

I know it's a little early...

any knitter worth their Addi Turbos will always make a swatch to determine correct gauge at the beginning of each project. but what to do with those swatches? I came across this clever use for them in Knitting Daily (online) and had to make one!!

so easy....so cleaver. simply seam-up your swatch square, slip it over a plain glass ornament, gather up stitches on the top and bottom and there you have it. I think it is pretty cute and I have a LOT of swatches.

Sea Lettuce Scarf

This pattern is fun and challenging and super-gratifying to boot. Noro Iro makes every row fun and exciting, too. Every 5th row has a picot cast-on/cast off edge, then knit in short rows to creat a sort of spiral. This would be fabulous in black...perhaps alpaca, for a totally different, but rich look.

a little paint

so much better! amazing what a couple coats of paint will do. this poor old mantle and hearth really needed a little work.
