one down, one to go....

I just completed this and am casting on for #2. I am not overly thrilled with the Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Aran yarn! There are lots of "schlubs"....areas where the yarn has odd thick spots or is totally fuzzy. This would not be an issue if the yarn was not predominantly smooth and uniform and supposed to have a nice, clean, smooth texture. I have cut the defective "spots" out and added the yarn back in. This cardigan could be knit in it's entirety with two skeins of the yarn and have only one place where there is a join and woven in ends. Instead, there are a bunch of them which disappoints me. Aside from this gripe, the yarn is really soft and is nice to work with. I now apprectiate yarn that is spun and held to the highest quality standards. Soft and luxurious is one thing, but to be knitting along and come across something so objectional that you need to stop, cut it out, rejoin is a total drag. I would use Rowan Cashoft next time. Their yarn is perfection. Interstingly, there are also issues with Debbie Bliss patterns. They are beautiful, classic patterns and her books are absolutely wonderful. Really, some of the nicest written, but are riddled with errors. Almost every pattern contains corrections that can thankfully be found on Ravelry Errata. Bliss yarns and patterns are sort of the rage, but I hear a lot of complaints, so it makes me wonder.......hmmmmmmm?
